Update from Guy
April 2006

We have been preparing the move to my new studio in North West London which is a considerable step up from the old place much as i loved it. Now we have the capability to record bands live for the first time and I really do think we have a world class set up.

Writing wise i have been working with a great new artist from Virginia USA called Ross Copperman who has just signed to Phonogenic, the label that signed Natasha Bedingfield. We had a lot of fun cutting two tracks and hopefully will be cutting more in the near future. I am also writing with Tim Firth (Calendar Girls, Kinky Boots, Our House) and we are at the early stages but I am very excited about the story.

If you want to see the coolest solo artist check out http://www.kerenann.net and band http://www.teganandsara.com - I know I do on a regular basis.

Guy Playing Live
Tuesday 29th June 2004

Just to let you know I am gigging with the talented and beautiful chanteuse Sophie Hunter showcasing some tracks from the French album we are working on at the Acoustic Lounge at the 100 Pub, 100 Clapham Park Road, London SW11 at 10pm next Tuesday 29th June .. Come and see us, you won't be disappointed!

Situated just down the road from the White House but a world apart .. The 100 Pub has an interesting take on how to deliver good beers, quality food and great entertainment - all without too much hassle on their part - we like their style.

Essentially an events led venue, with its open mic Mondays, Acoustic Lounge on Tuesdays, Thursday Comedy Clubs and weekend revelry courtesy of rotating DJs (and God knows what else) The 100 Pub is perfect for those who struggle with conversation or larger groups looking for an unusual and entertaining night out.

Good beers and wines are offered - no cocktails though (too much hassle for the laid back staff of 100 bar??) - along with authentic Italian food (primarily pizza and pasta). Now here is the bit we love the most...

Why go to the hassle of installing a £20K kitchen, why endure prima-donna chefs, why endure endless washing up - when all you need to do is strike a partnership with the local Italian restaurant? That's right, select your dish of choice, order and pay at the bar and a short time later your meal will be delivered. Genius!

Reasonably priced, friendly, comfortable and offering entertainment seldom seen in London The 100 Pub is well worth a visit.

Message from Guy
22nd June 2004

I am now back in the studio having been away for a couple of weeks and have started writing with Delta Goodrem for her forthcoming album, as well as recording a track co-written for Italian opera star Andrea Bocelli.  I am really pleased with the reaction that the beverley Knight tracks have received on her new album Affirmation (Released on 28th June).  I think she is a world class song writer and performer.  More news soon!

Guy.

"Although she is one of the UK's most consistently successful R&B singers, Beverley Knight has never parlayed her dozen or so hit singles into significant album sales, for which her manifestly English cosiness is partly to blame.

So she has called in Robbie Williams's songwriter, Guy Chambers, who co-wrote four of the songs on AFFIRMATION, including the single Come As You Are. Initial signs are encouraging: Knight has rarely been in more walloping voice, and crunches into the rip-roaringly rocky single like a tigress.

Chambers' eerie, reverb-heavy Affirmation is another blockbuster moment, and his Under the Same Sun features Knight at her most delicate. These tracks, plus one or two others, are just the sort of radio-savvy growers that Knight has hitherto lacked, and while they mark a move away from the Britsoul that made her name, she may yet find a new identity as England's Anastacia."

Guardian Review by Caroline Sullivan.

Beverley Knight Single Release
21st June 2004

Today sees the release of the first single on beverley Knight's forthcoming album AFFIRMATION.

"The rocky Guy Chambers co-penned first single COME AS YOU ARE is a strong statement of intent to kick off proceedings, while the rest of the set shows a variety of flavours from country to soul.  With echoes of artists as diverse as Prince and the Staples Singers, this will hopefully deliver the diva the sales she deserves"

February Already
W/C 02/02/04

Hi Everyone!  Thought I'd do a quick update so that you know I haven't retired to a desert island.

It's all been very busy chez Chambers and now I have three children, Isis, Marley and Gala, all under four years of age!  My wife is on the edge of a nervous breakdown (but still managing to look beautiful) and I am finding fatherhood rewarding and challenging ..

Work-wise I have finished the tracks I wrote with beverley Knight and I am currently writing with Misteeq, Charlotte Church, Delta Goodrem and soon will be doing more with Matt from Busted.

At the same time I have nearly finished my album in French which is co-written with Keren Ann Zeidel.  The artist is Sophie Hunter, a young English actress who has the kind of voice you can listen to all day (without smashing your hand through a wall!) and has the charisma and charm to go with it.  She is currently meeting a few labels both here and in France and hopefully we will release the album later this year.  Apart from my work with RW, I feel it's my finest work to date.

I am flying to LA today to write with Delta and two new artists.  No doubt I will be finding myself at various parties but somehow I'll push through!!
